Within the frame of the RDS-TMC service implementation, the Traffic General
Directorate has participated in various projects of international cooperation
(FORCE, ECORTIS, ARTS and SERTI) and in normalization activities by the
European (CEN/TC278) and national (AEN/CTN 159) Committees.
During the first phase, the Traffic General Directorate codified the
North-East of Spain; thus, the service is functioning since year1995, when the
Cooperation Agreement was signed with Radio Nacional de España. Later on, in
1999 the coverage was extended to the whole Main Road Network up to the level
of First order Autonomous Community Roads. The 1.6 version of January 2005
contains 4.576 codes. The March 2006 version includes 7.763 codes.
The Traffic General Directorate avails for individuals and legal entities the
list of TMC (data) points, lines and areas under the following terms and
conditions:
1. The use of TMC data is open and free of charge.
2. The Traffic General Directorate owns all rights, including those related to
Intellectual Property on data. The use of data will not be understood as a
concession, transfer, cession or conveyance of rights, titles, interests on or
ownership of data belonging to the Traffic General Directorate.
3. The Traffic General Directorate will not be responsible for any direct or
incidental, foreseeable or unforeseeable damages of any nature based on claims
for the use, reproduction, publication, exhibition, performance, modification,
distribution and commercialisation both of data or works derived from them
(including interruption of services or of the availability of data, mistakes,
defects or lack of completeness) and their respective updates.
The Traffic General Directorate may update data in the manner and way it may
deem convenient without having to inform of it publicly but on the Entity web
provider. As it is distributed openly and free of charge, only the Entity,
Organisation or Company which includes them in its applications, be them
commercial or not, will be responsible for the use of these codes. The Traffic
General Directorate waives all responsibility on any product in whose
development, production and distribution, etc. has not been directly involved
and only requires to be informed on the realisation of any application or
product which uses the TMC codes, before it appears on the market or is
implemented.
On 29th March 2006, the new TMC table of Spain, 2.1 version, has passed the
verification trial by the TMC forum. In order to get a copy of the 2.1
version, we will be grateful if you request it by letter stating the use you
will make of it and reason for it; besides setting forth the Commitment of
